The public is invited to enjoy an exhibit celebrating student artists from Craven County Schools. Including pieces from art departments from all Craven County public schools, the exhibit is curated and produced by the dedicated art teachers of Craven County Schools. The art on display will include 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works.

Join us on Thursday, April 18th for the New Bern Parks & Recreation Twi-Light Easter Egg Hunt! This FREE event will be held at Glenburnie Park, located at 340 Glenburnie Drive in New Bern. The hunt starts at dusk! (Approximately 7:45pm).
This Egg hunt is available for youth ages 11 – 13.

In a huge community-wide effort to support the Eastern Pregnancy Information Clinic, affectionately known as the EPIC Center, we are hosting a 5k and 1 mile Walk 4 Life! Join us in working off those extra holiday pounds and supporting what we do!
Our race offers the option to runners for a regular 5K, families to walk a 5K, or anyone to walk at least one mile –all of it to show your support of L.I.F.E (Loving Individuals For Eternity!).
Why this is a good cause:
These funds will help the center continue to provide free pregnancy testing, limited ultrasound, and pregnancy support services to young women and men in our community who find themselves facing an unplanned pregnancy. We offer prenatal and parenting classes in exchange for free baby supplies. We have the pleasure of serving Craven, Greene, Lenoir, Jones, and Pamlico Counties. Ultimately we’re here to help families thrive!

Did you know that the 50th Earth Day Celebration is coming in 2020? The perfect time to start planning is this year’s Earth Day.
We will be gathering on Saturday, April 20th from 1 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the corner of Craven and S. Front Streets in the vacant lot next to Mitchell Hardware.
Our goal is to bring people together to meet like-minded citizens while exploring opportunities that we can all take to protect our local natural resources, environment, wildlife, waterways and ultimately counter climate change.
We’ll have live music, preservation, environmental, and conservation exhibits, and eco-conscious children’s activities.
We also need volunteers to help us on the day of to set up and clean up, directing attendees, participating in children’s activities, and help exhibitors.
We are in the process of confirming volunteers, exhibitors, and sponsors. Deadline for exhibitors and sponsors is April 2.
Please help us put on this great event by volunteering! Our next volunteer planning meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. Location to be determined.

The Saturday Sessions in Bear Plaza are rotating music and art weekends located in the heart of downtown New Bern, North Carolina. Saturday Sessions run from 1pm-5pm and begin Saturday April 6, 2019 and will run every Saturday until Mumfest weekend in October.
Special Saturday Sessions children’s programming is available. Between 1pm-5pm the second and fourth Saturdays indoors at the The Next Chapter Books and Art and the first and third Saturdays outside of The Craven Arts Council/Bank of the Arts, children of all ages are encouraged to paint #downtownNBrocks and hide them around town. The Craven Arts Council/Bank of the Arts will also be the host location of Saturday Session Storytimes held the second and fourth Saturdays at 1pm and 3pm. Please join us as books about community, nature, and neighborhood are shared alongside beautiful local works of art on display.
Saturday Session April 20 will feature covers and original music by local Hot Buttered Grits guitarist/singer/front man Seth Smith from 1-2:30 followed by North Carolina Songwriters Co-op band Michael Daughtry and the Drift featuring their original spin on alternative rock sound. Saturday Session April 27 from 1pm-5pm will be another fun-filled Art weekend in Bear Plaza featuring various artists demonstrating their disciplines. Tryon Palace historic clothing interpreter Leslie Lambrecht will lead a tour of the historic Jones House with a brief description of the house and then through the Tryon Palace Costume Shop on the first floor of the house. The costumer will discuss historical clothing research, the sewing techniques used in the past, and current projects for upcoming events.
Space is limited on each tour and flash photography is prohibited. Tours may involve walking and climbing stairs.
