On Monday, February 4, join the USAF Heritage of America Band as they present “Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble” in Cullman Performance Hall in the North Carolina History Center. From the swingin’ sounds of Major Glenn Miller to the best of contemporary big band jazz, the USAF Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble plays with style and sophistication. Made up of outstanding Airman-musicians from around the country, Rhythm in Blue takes great pride in preserving America’s true art form, developing a new generation of listeners, and representing all Airmen. One of the few traveling big bands still in existence, Rhythm in Blue regularly performs for audiences across the eastern seaboard from Maine to South Carolina. Paying homage to the great big bands of Basie, Ellington, Kenton and Goodman, Rhythm in Blue also spotlights the works of modern bands and composers such as the Mingus Big Band, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra, and John Fedchock’s New York Big Band. With music dedicated to our veterans and all Airmen serving worldwide, Rhythm in Blue honors our American military heroes for their selfless sacrifice at every performance. Whether presenting the sounds of the great big band era the new sounds of today, Rhythm in Blue has something for audiences of all ages.
