MumFest is a combination of family fun, entertainment, attractions, exhibitors and great food in the beautifully restored setting of historic downtown New Bern and its waterfront. The annual MumFest 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, presented by New Bern Parks and Recreation, will be held on Sunday, October 13th. This flat course will begin and end at beautiful Union Point Park, located at 210 East Front Street in downtown New Bern. Day of registration will begin at 6:00am. The 1 Mile Fun Run will begin at 7:00am. The 5K will begin at 7:30am. Advance registration for the 1 Mile Fun Run is $20.00 per person and $25.00 per person for the 5K. Registration fees include a race t-shirt, finisher medals (5K only) and participation ribbons (1 Mile fun Run only). For the 5K, awards will be given to the overall top three male and female finishers as well as the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age categories: 10U; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60 and over. The guild’s gorgeous raffle quilt will be revealed! This year TRQG will have a special guest lecturer. On Friday at 2 pm and then again on Saturday at 10 am, Lynn Gorges, Textile Conservator and Restoration Specialist, will discuss Sanitary Commission Quilts. These quilts were made in the North for wounded soldiers hospitalized right in New Bern. We challenge all guild members, fellow quilters and community members to fill the convention center with their amazing quilted treasures highlighting the talent here in Eastern North Carolina. A 10K/5K/1 Mile powdered COLOR run to benefit the Journey of Hope Cancer Support Center. 2019 Craig Brake Memorial Colors 4 Cancer 10k, 5k and 1 mile run/walk is a color run which benefits the Journey of Hope Cancer Support Center in New Bern, NC. Journey of Hope helps patients and families cope with the emotional, physical, and psychological effects of cancer by offering programs such as peer support groups, survivorship program, art therapy, yoga/exercise, and other various programs. We are a comprehensive cancer resource center in Eastern North Carolina for people with cancer and their caregivers, to let them know they are not alone and we are here to support them in all aspects of this journey. We are a non for profit organization that supports 100% LOCAL people/families. The race will start & finish at Creekside Elementary School where there will be plenty of parking, and the route will take you through the beautiful Carolina Colours residential neighborhood. Race activities start at 8:30 with announcements followed by a Zumba warmup, followed by the race start at 9 am. Please only runners for the 10K course. Fees Registration fee for the 10K color run is $40 per participant. Registration fee for the 5K color run is $35 per participant. Registration fee for the 1 mile walk is $25 per participant. Our 5K route is perfect for families, strollers, and leashed dogs and will be open to timed and untimed runners and walkers. The 10K is geared towards the competitive runner and is open to timed runners only.
