Celebrating African American Women through Song
Celebrate the history of influential African American women through the beautiful voice of Vivian Hargett at the March African American Lecture Series honoring Women’s History Month.
A native New Bernian and experienced recording artist, Hargett’s sound encompasses gospel, jazz, R&B, and much more. Hargett was the lead singer for the gospel group Sounds of the Pentecost, which opened for gospel greats like Shirley Caesar, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Dorothy Norwood, Fred Hammond and John P. Key.
The Tryon Palace African American Lecture Series offers a free, new program on the third Thursday of each month. All performances begin at 7 p.m. in Cullman Performance Hall and are free with support from the Tryon Palace Foundation. Special hearing devices are available if needed. Contact Tryon Palace 48 hours in advance of the performance to make arrangements.
